Manpower Inc., a world leader in workforce solutions, announced today that David Arkless, Manpower Inc. "David's leadership skills, which are of course well-known at Manpower, his vast experience in a myriad of business sectors and his in-depth understanding of the workings of various boards will benefit EFE's Board of Directors and the foundation in many positive ways," said Ron Bruder, Founder and CEO of the Education for Employment Foundation. "This experience, coupled with his deep involvement in the MENA region and extreme passion for solving youth unemployment will benefit us in as yet unexplored avenues. We are so glad to have the support of Manpower, whose core business is connecting people with employment opportunities."
Manpower and the Education For Employment Foundation have already forged strong links, following the announcement of a joint global initiative in 2009 to improve employment opportunities for first-time job seekers. The agreement is aimed at lowering youth unemployment in the Middle East and North Africa, where joblessness rates reach 50 percent in places, and where an additional 100 million job seekers are set to enter the workforce in the next 15 years. The Education For Employment Foundation is the premier US foundation for youth and marginalized workforce development in the Arab World.
"I am honored to have been invited to be a Board member of EFE, the leading foundation dedicated to social development in the Middle East," said Arkless. "There can be no better investment of capital and expertise than in evolving social stability, and EFE accelerates this process by putting young people and the long-term unemployed into sustainable jobs."

About Education for Employment Foundation
The Education For Employment Foundation (EFE), a network of independent affiliate organizations in the U.S., Europe, and across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), offers a solution to MENA youth unemployment by addressing the disparity between the many skills needed in the workplace and the limited skills taught in many existing educational institutions. EFE trains youth to be employable, allowing employers to hire skilled, dependable and retainable employees.
The EFE affiliates are run by local social entrepreneurs and governed jointly with local boards of directors. EFE engages local community leaders to be investors and stakeholders by building public-private partnerships and increases local capacity by partnering with local educational institutions. By assessing labour-market needs and tailoring training programs to match these needs, EFE follows a market-driven approach - resulting in better employment rates for EFE graduates. Once graduates have been placed in jobs, EFE offers continuous support through alumni programs.
EFE is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and has been profiled in Time Magazine, the Financial Times, Economist.com, Fortune Small Business, on PBS "NOW" and on CNN Headline News.
