MILWAUKEE, Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Manpower Inc., (NYSE: MAN) a world leader in innovative workforce solutions, announced that it has signed a two-year contract to deliver effective, efficient and consistent global permanent recruitment services to help Rio Tinto, one of the world's largest international mining and mineral resources companies, achieve its growth goals.

Manpower will be one of only two exclusive providers of permanent talent to Rio Tinto, recruiting approximately 11,000 permanent employees every year, and building on Manpower's existing partnership with Rio Tinto in Australia. Manpower will secure in-demand talent for Rio Tinto's established and emerging businesses, in skills sets ranging from management to machine operators.

"With a highly mobile, global workforce, a coordinated, cross-border recruitment solution is integral to Rio Tinto's success," said Darryl Green, Manpower Inc. President of Asia-Pacific and Middle East. "Manpower's unrivaled global footprint, knowledge of emerging markets and understanding of Rio Tinto's business makes us uniquely qualified to deliver the right skills, in the right place at the right time so they can focus on executing their business strategy. Our ability to respond to fluctuating demands for labor across Rio Tinto's multiple global projects, allows us to deliver customized solutions to keep them ahead of their competition."

Rio Tinto's decision to select Manpower for its permanent recruitment needs was due to Manpower's ability to provide a scalable solution, as well as a natural alignment between the companies' core culture and values. Under the expanded agreement, which has already commenced, Manpower will provide services to Rio Tinto in locations including Australia, Canada, France, South Africa, U.S., South America, UK, India and the Middle East.

"Through our partnership, we gained a sensitive understanding of Rio Tinto and their needs, introduced the right people and demonstrated how our depth and breadth of services adds value to Rio Tinto across the globe," said Lincoln Crawley, Managing Director, Manpower Australia & New Zealand. "We are delivering a best-in-class experience for candidates, hiring managers and recruitment specialists, backed up by robust recruitment metrics and reports. Ultimately, this means reduced time to hire and increased quality of hire for Rio Tinto."

Rio Tinto's aim is to build the best relationships at a local level, and the agreement stems from the original partnership with Manpower Australia, where Rio Tinto is Manpower's third-largest, and fastest-growing client.
