ManpowerGroup Receives Prestigious Awards from Chinese State Leaders at Beijing Roundtable

Strategic Investment in China Also Contributes to Social Welfare

BEIJING, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN), the world leader in innovative workforce solutions, received prestigious awards at a recent Beijing event, sponsored by the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (CICPMC) and co-sponsored by several United Nations programs. David Arkless, ManpowerGroup President of Global Corporate and Government Affairs and Vice President of the CICPMC, accepted the awards on behalf of ManpowerGroup.

Jeffrey A. Joerres, ManpowerGroup Chairman and CEO, was honored with the International Investment Strategist award for ManpowerGroup's presence in China, which spans 18 years, and was built on innovative government partnerships.

ManpowerGroup received a second award for contributing to public welfare in China.  

The 5th Multinational Corporations Leaders Roundtable addressed the role multinational corporations maintain in strengthening Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), facilitate  sustainable development across China, and increase foreign direct investment into and out of China.

State leaders attending the event included: Jia Qinglin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC and Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Du Qinglin, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC; and Zheng Wantong, Vice-Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC.

While speaking at the event Arkless, focused on how China is challenged in attracting more foreign investment and upskilling workers in critical sectors.

In the last two years, the number of ManpowerGroup associates on daily assignment in China has risen from 15,000 to 125,000. ManpowerGroup now operates in more than 90 offices across the country.
